Former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart, Malam Nasir El-Rufai has begun a tour of Kaduna State with the hope of gathering disciples in preparation for the 2015 gubernatorial seat in the state.
El-Rufai began the tour on Tuesday with visits to community leaders in the state appealing to them for support.
In a first move that seem well calculated, the former minister visited Fadan Kagoma, the country home of the late governor of Kaduna State, Patrick Yakowa, in Jama’ah Local Government Area of the state.
In Fadan Kagoma, El-Rufai was at the palace of Kpop Gwong, Paramount Ruler of Gwong, retired Col. Paul Zakka-Wyoms to formally tell the traditional ruler of his governorship ambition.
El-Rufai made several promises to the traditional ruler, saying justice, equity and fairness would be the theme of his administration if he gets the traditional ruler’s support and becomes governor in 2015.
“I come here to formally inform you of our decision to seek the highest office in our dear state,” El-Rufai told Zakka-Wyoms.
“It is a demonstration of deep commitment to the peace, development and unity of Kaduna State. I am set and ready to move to action, justice is paramount to development and that is my direction. I am seeking your blessings and moral backing.
“I am not new to our state; I did my primary school, secondary school and university in our state. And also practiced here in our state before moving to Abuja where we both served with Yakowa in General Abdulsalam Abubakar’s government, and so I know our problems and together we will run a responsible and participatory government together.”
