The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Musa Ahmed Mohammed has held a private meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan in the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The meeting held on Thursday, was described by Deputy National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Uche Secondus as a “mere consultation”.

“I came in here before members of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly. It was a consultation meeting with Mr President,” Secondus said.

After the meeting which lasted a little over an hour, Mohammed told State House correspondents that there was no hint he could give them about the content of the meeting, emphasising that it was a private meeting.

He said he would rather remain silent on the impeachment saga going on in his state, explaining that there was no pressure from any quarters to either continue, or alter the House’s stand on impeaching the embattled governor of the state, Umar Tanko Al-Makura.

“This is a private meeting. I am here to see Mr President for a private meeting. I do not have the mandate of the assembly to address the press,” Mohammed said. “We have the chairman of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly Committee on Information who we all agreed should be talking to the press on our behalf.”
