Out of 109 lawyers who applied for the award of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) only 17 got awarded with the title by the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) on Friday in Abuja.
Announcing the award, Sunday Olorundahunsi, Secretary and Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, said that the committee found the awardees worthy for the title at the end of its general meeting held in Abuja on Friday.
Olorundahunsi confirmed that out of an initial 109 legal practitioners that applied, 23 were shortlisted before the final confirmation of the new title.
Among those who got the confirmation are two academicians. Unfortunately, no female lawyer got the prestigious award this year, although three of them had applied.
