The seven-man panel investigating the Adamawa House of Assembly allegations of gross misconduct against Governor Murtala Nyako and his Deputy, Bala Ngilari, has commenced sitting in Yola on Friday.

The venue of the sitting is the Federal Secretariat conference room.

Speaking to journalists at the venue of the sitting before commencement of the sitting on Friday, Chairman of the panel, Malam Buba Kaigama, apologised for the one week delay in the commencement of sitting.

He said the delay was due to the problem of selecting a suitable venue, assuring that the panel would be fair to all parties involved in the case.

Neither Nyako nor Ngilari was represented at the sitting, while the House of Assembly was represented by the Deputy Speaker, Kwamoti Laori. Counsel to the House, Mr Duro Ajeleye (SAN), led Mr Wafarninyi Theman, the only witness presented by the house in evidence.

Theman, the House Standing Committee Chairman on Public Accounts, gave evidence against Ngilari and Nyako, respectively, presenting 22 exhibits against the governor and six exhibits against his deputy.

The panel adjourned sitting to Saturday to enable the governor and his deputy or their representatives appear before it.
