After weeks of intrigues, the new Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, on Friday finally made an official entrance into his palace accompanied by thousands of indigenes and residents of the city.
The state governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, had accused President Goodluck Jonathan of ordering a siege to the palace in order to arrest Sanusi over trumped-up charges after he was corronated.
A riot also erupted after the governor picked Sanusi out of the three contenders for the position.
