Nigeria is currently experiencing its share of the terrorism that has come to define the world, but the Armed Forces would continue training fine minds to work out solutions, Chief of Defence Staff, Air Marshall Alex Badeh has said.

Speaking at the 2014 symposium for Senior Course 36 at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) Jaji, themed Repositioning the Nigerian Armed Forces to Meet Contemporary National Security Challenges, Badeh, who was represented by Chief of Training and Operation, Defence Headquarters, Maj.-Gen. Eboiwei Awala, urged students of Senior Course 36 to prepare adequately for the tasks ahead of them in the field.

“Our dear country, like most countries in the world, is having her share of terrorism and other contemporary security challenges”, he said.

“You must listen to all critiques, observations and suggestions that would be made after your presentations and use them not to just improve your papers, but more importantly to prepare your minds on the challenges you would be facing in the field after your course”.

In his own remarks, Commandant of AFCSC, Air Vice-Marshal Chris Ifemeje explained that the objective of the symposium is to challenge middle-cadre officers to generate ideas that would be useful for the Army’s huge security challenges.

“Such ideas could assist the services find solutions to some of the extant and emerging threats being faced by the country”, he pressing challenge.
