The Director of Military Intelligence Major General Ahmed Tijani Jibril has disclosed that a number of persons are already in custody in connection with November 25 , 2012 terrorist attacks in Jaji Cantonment.
Fielding questions from Defence correspondents in Abuja yesterday General Jibril said that it will not be wise to give specific number of suspects in custody at the moment because “as I speak operations are ongoing in Maiduguri, Damaturu , suleja, Kano and Kaduna where pockets of Boko haram sect member s have been notice.”
“A lot of bad boys have been arrested by the army, state security services and the police” adding that until the figures are collated we cannot give the actual figure. He said that few persons were invited by the investigation panel to explain the role they played in the Jaji Cantonment bombs blast.
Major General Jibril said that there was no need for media to speculate on the findings of a panel set up by the army to investigate Jaji military Cantonment bombings that was rumoured to have concluded it work on Wednesday. “Report has not been submitted, he said.
The DMI said the military was very much concern about the attacks and how the terrorists accessed Jaji cantonment. He however added that if the Americans with all their advances in technology were attacked, we should not only express surprises but mobilize against such attacks.
He said that the army has taken some step including the restriction of military barracks to those who are legitimately entitled to be in the barracks. On the porous nature of Jaji cantonment , General Jibril explained that measures are already on to isolate the cantonment from the surrounding villages, such that their activities are now being tracked
