The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its National Working Committee (NWC) are unhappy with the recurring situation where aides of elected office holders in its folds make public statements that end up embarrassing their bosses.

They have therefore cautioned all the aides, according to a statement issued by National Publicity Secretary of the party, Olisa Metuh, on Monday in Abuja.

Metuh, whose statement was in reaction to statements discrediting the proposed National Conference made by an aide of Governor Martins Elechi of Ebonyi and credited to the governor, noted that the statement from the governor’s aide painted the governor as a pessimist. He said the party has now duly established channels of external communication.

“It is unacceptable to the NWC for any person under any guise whatsoever to make comments that may ridicule or seek to ridicule his image and portray him in bad light.

“It is therefore wrong and completely unacceptable for anybody to present statements made by individuals who are not members of the NWC on the official position of the party; more so when such statements were made without due clarifications from the governor.

“In the same vein, all unauthorised persons must desist from making statements in manners that suggest such to be the official position of the NWC on party issues”, Metuh said, adding that as one of the successful governors produced by the PDP, Governor Elechi could not have made such comments.
