As reported by Huhuonline.com on Wednesday that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would head for the Supreme Court over the Appeal Court judgement that sanctioned the reinstatement of former Governor of Osun State, Olagunsoye Oyinlola as National Secretary of the party, Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the party, Abdullahi Jalo on Friday disclosed that the party had concluded plans to appeal the ruling at the Supreme Court.
Jalo said that the party’s legal team was already preparing papers to appeal the judgement and assured that Oyinlola would not be sworn-in.
“We are going to apply for a stay of execution. Oyinlola should not be allowed to even go close to Wadata Plaza, the national secretariat of the party. He cannot go there; we are appealing against the decision,” he said.
“We respect what the Judiciary has done and it is an act of courage, and whoever was the judge who did it, he did it within the premise of the law and we have taken it in good faith. But we are appealing against the decision of the court and this is the decision of PDP.”
Jalo further debunked the claim by former Governor of Gombe State, Danjuma Goje that he is the leader of PDP in the state, as according to him, Goje ought not to have made such a statement since he should know that incumbent Governor, Ibrahim Dankwambo is the leader of the party in the state.
Oyinlola and Goje are members of the breakaway faction of the PDP, which also has seven other governors of the party.
