Today’s edition of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) traditionally held on Wednesdays did not hold but President Goodluck Jonathan, Vice President Namadi Sambo and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Anyim Pius Anyim led other top government functionaries to receive a 2013 African Peace Award.
There were no official explanations for the cancelation of the meeting, which could still have held in the absence of the president provided the vice president was given the nod to preside over it.
It was a surprise that the president himself was unavailable to preside over the meeting, having returned to the country last night after a one-week trip to Israel.
