Police have begun investigations into allegations that two chiefs, Douglas Awudulu and Barrister Dennis Otiotio connived with some chief loyal to them to procure a huge cache of weaponry and dump them in a bush in order to implicate newly elected King of Agrisaba, King Walter M.S. Obanema of Agrisaba Agiri VIII.
According to the allegations, a young man named Ingonamondi Canus discovered the place where the weaponry were kept while hunting for snail but to keep his mouth shut, Douglas and Otiotio held a meeting with him and promised to pay him money.
Speaking on the matter, a certain Reverend Ipigansi revealed that the two chiefs have no good intention towards the welfare of the people of the community but are rather bent on rendering the community ungovernable to create the impression that the newly installed king is incapable of maintaining peace in the area.
It is also believed that on Wednesday night, both chiefs instructed unidentified gunmen to invade Agrisaba Community, where they ransacked some houses and shot three persons in the leg: Bright Etuere, Alatari Owupele and one unnamed person.
Their ploy was reportedly to then petition the Police that the new king kept the weaponry in the bush, however, the boy who saw the arms and ammunition and was promised money had reported the matter at Nembe Police Station.
Chief Douglas Awudulu and Barr Denis Otiotio are reported to have been eyeing the coveted position of Kingship of Agrisaba because of the crude oil in the community. For that reason, they have been terrorising the elders, chiefs and youths of the Community with the JTF, Operation Famou Tangbei and the gun boats meant for official purposes.
They are also alleged to have spearheaded a group of chiefs to take King Walter M.S. the Obanema to court on the same kingship matter. Two of their accomplices have been apprehended while the man in charge of their armoury is on the run.
Dennis Otiotio was before now Special Adviser to the former Governor Timipre Sylva, an office he used to stash away billions of hard currency to buy exotic properties at home and abroad.
It is unclear if both men have been apprehended by the Police for interrogation but it is believed that Dennis harbours the plan of running to Tusla in the United States, where he recently finished an LLM Degree.
