The Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo, legislators and other top officials of the petroleum and power industries as well as regulators will converge in Lagos on Thursday to chart course for the passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) and other issues.
The event, which is the annual August conference of the National Association of Energy Correspondents (NAEC), themed “PIB: Harmonisation and Implementation for Economy Growth,” will hold on Thursday August 22 at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos by 9am.
The Secretary of the Association, Yunus Yusuf in a statement, said Alison-Madueke will be the special guest of honour while the Group Managing Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) will deliver the keynote address.
The Minster of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo will speak on “Driving Capacity Growth in Liberalised Power Sector,” while the PIB Team lead, Ministry of Petroleum, Engr. Abiye Membere, will deliver the lead paper.
The Director, Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), Engr. George Osahon, will speak on “Expectations and Challenges of Effective Regulation in Deregulated Regime,” and the Executive Secretary, Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Engr. Ernest Nwapa, will talk on “Three Years of NCDMB: Achievements and Challenges.”
The Chairman, Senate Joint Committee on Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB), Sen. Emmanuel Paulker,will present a paper on “Balancing National Interest with Investment Incentives. Other speakers include the Managing Director, Seplat Petroleum Development Company, Mr. Austin Avuru, and the Chairman, Oil Producers Trade Section (OPTS), Mr. Mark Ward.
The Chairman of the occasion will be Dr. Tony Chukwueke, Director, Transcorp Energy Limited and former Director, DPR.
The event will attract chief executives of the oil and gas industry, power industry and operators of the organised private sector.
