Erstwhile Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has been disqualified by the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) from contesting the party primaries to determine its candidate for the upcoming governorship election in the state.

Soludo, who only recently decamped to APGA from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was disqualified on Friday by the screening panel alongside five other aspirants.

Speaking after the screening, Chairman of the Gubernatorial Screening Panel, Alhaji Tayo Sowunmi, Secretary, Mr. Ifrani Mbaeri, and a member, Chief Onwuka Ukwa all confirmed that after the panel concluded its work on Friday, a total of six aspirants failed the screening while seven others succeeded.

Although they kept mum on the exact reasons for disqualifying the six, sources revealed that it might have been down to issues like failure to present voters’ card, failure to submit tax clearance, fears over financial inability to prosecute a hectic campaign, and incomplete certificate.

Aside Soludo, others who failed are Emmanuel Nweke, Ogbuefi Tony Nnaechetta, Chinedu Francis Idigo, Dr. Chike Obidigbo, and immediate past Secretary to Anambra State Government, Oseloka Obaze.

The seven successful aspirants are Hon. Chukwuemeka Emmanuel Nwogbo, Paul Odenigbo, Hon. Uche Lillian Ekwunife, Chief Willie Obiano, John Nwosu, John Okechukwu Emeka and Nwachi Patrick Obianwu.
