President Goodluck Jonathan on has approved the appointment of Pius Osunyikanmi as the new Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Technical Aid Corps (TAC).

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati, announced this in a statement on Thursday saying that the appointment was immediate effect.

According to Abati, Osunyikanmi takes over from Mamman Daura, whose tenure as Director-General of the corps expired in June.

Dr. Abati said Osunyikanmi’s appointment was in furtherance of President Jonathan’s commitment to strengthen the directorate’s institutional and operational capacity.

The corps was established in 1987, as a Foreign Policy mechanism to deliver Technical Manpower Assistance to the African, Caribbean and Pacific countries.

Osunyikanmi is a native of Ile-Oluji in Ondo State and was until his appointment the Special Adviser to the President on International Relations.

Born on August 3, 1971, Osunyikanmi holds a Doctorate Degree in Political Science from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko.

He previously served in several capacities, including Special Adviser to the Governor of Ondo State on Intergovernmental Affairs and Multilateral Relations from 2009 to 2010. He was also a Commissioner for Education in Ondo State in 2010.
