The Joint Task Force (JTF) on Friday revved up its haunt of top members and point men of the Boko Haram Islamist sect by promising a minimum of N10m and maximum of N50m as reward for members of the public who can provide information that would lead to the arrest of specifically listed individuals.
In a statement released to Huhuonline on Friday in Maiduguri, the task force announced N50m as the price tag on Abubakar Shekau, the most wanted of the sect’s leaders. Also, providers of information leading to the arrest of Habibu Yusuf (a.k.a Asalafi), Khalid Albarnawai, Momodu Bama, N25 million, and Mohammed Zangina will be paid N25m for each head.
For 14 others, N10m will each be paid for help on their arrest. They are: Abu Saad, Abba Kaka, Abdulmalik Bama, Umar Fulata, Alhaji Mustapha Ibrahim, Abubakar Suleiman-Habu (a.k.a Khalid), Hassan Jazair, Ali Jalingo, Alhaji Musa Modu.
Others in the N10m category include: Bashir Aketa, Abba Goroma, Ibrahim Bashir, Abubakar Zakariya, and Tukur Ahmed Mohammed.
“Anybody with relevant information should contact the following mobile numbers: 08064174066, 070855464012, and 08154429345. Informants’ identities will be highly protected,” a part of the JTF statement read.
The JTF further said that all the listed leaders of the sect are “wanted in connection with terrorist activities particularly in the northeastern zone of Nigeria that led to the killings, bombings and assassination of some civilians, religious leaders, traditional rulers, businessmen, politicians, civil servants and security personnel amongst others.”
Other crimes for which they are wanted include arson and destruction of properties worth of millions of Naira.
Only days ago, President Goodluck Jonathan had denied reports of an ongoing negotiation between the government and the Islamist insurgents, saying his government would never dialogue with a faceless group.
