To actualise his ambition of becoming the Governor of Anambra State through the 2014 governorship election in the State, former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Prof. Charles Soludo, has decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
Soludo, who had contested the seat in 2010 under the PDP platform in the last election against incumbent Governor Peter Obi, defected on Wednesday in preparation for the forthcoming governorship election in the State.
Soludo, in a letter dated July 17, 2013 and sent to the National Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, announced his resignation from the PDP and thanked the party for offering him the opportunity to serve in the party and the nation in various capacities.
He announced in the letter that he had moved to APGA saying the party had sound and progressive ideology that suites him and would enable him transform Anambra State into Africa’s Taiwan and Dubai which he said he had been dreaming of.
According to him, “this is to convey my resignation as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with effect from today.
“Let me use this opportunity to thank the party for the opportunity given to me to serve it in some capacities.
“This resignation is without prejudice to the possibility of future collaboration with the party in any areas of common interest designed to advance the course of nation-building.”
While the letter got to the PDP, Soludo has been registered as a member of APGA.
He was registered at the Isuofia Ward in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State by the Ward Chairman, Okeke Anthony.
