Though Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole has continued to sound his trumpet of accomplishments and completion of major projects in the state, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state has castigated him for abandoning most of his so-called major projects.
Chairman of the opposition party in the state, Dan Orbih who spoke with some journalists in Benin on Monday, said it has become worrisome that the government was leaving abandoned projects in various parts of the state. One of such, according to the PDP chairman, is the Central Hospital. It could be recalled that the hospital had collapsed while it was being built, resulting in the death of some of the bricklayers.
He also said the youths of the state had lost hope in the current administration after the governor had failed to provide employment opportunities for them. He said the Oshiomhole administration made the mistake of embarking on projects on a massive scale without taking into consideration how to complete them, leading to series of abandoned projects.
Orbih said part of this alleged maladministration is responsible for the escalation of criminal activities in the state.
Speaking on the delayed election into the Esan North East Local Government Council, Orbih raised eyebrows but expressed confidence that the PDP would win the election.
“Two attempts had been made by EDSIEC to conduct elections, and on both occasions, the state electoral body refused to announce the result. As at today, EDSIEC is yet to say when the election would be conducted,” he said.
He further supported the review of some parts of the constitution calling for more concentration, especially on areas having to do with the minimum qualification for contesting election into governorship position in the country. He said the PDP had started campaigning, though without rallies, for the 2015 general elections, adding that the party is even more prepared than ever.
