Huhuonline.com can confirm that President Bola Tinubu has appointed a former Commissioner in Lagos, Kayode Opeifa, to head the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC).

The announcement was released in a post on Wednesday in a statement by the Renewed Hope United Kingdom, which added that the President’s decision was highly commendable.

As the commissioner of transport in Lagos, Opeifa is known to have evolved policies that helped to decongest some roads and improve transportation in the state.

He also served as Transport Secretary for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and headed a presidential committee to decongest Apapa.

“With this new role, Dr Opeifa is expected to lead the modernisation of Nigeria’s railway network, a crucial component of the country’s economic growth.

“His vast experience in transportation planning and infrastructure development has raised expectations among industry stakeholders, who see him as the right fit to drive meaningful reforms.

“As Nigeria aims for a more efficient and accessible railway system, expectations are high that Dr Opeifa will bring lasting and meaningful progress,” the statement said.
