… Mark to chair convention
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) National Executive Committee (NEC) on Wednesday abandoned zoning and rather threw open the contest for the party’s 2023 presidential ticket.
This was revealed late on Wednesday in Abuja during the party’s NEC meeting.
The party’s NEC chose former Senate President, David Mark to Chair the Convention Committee., ahead of PDP’s National Convention to elect the party’s presidential candidate.
It is not clear how some sections of the country will respond to this decision. The governors of the 17 Southern States had urged the two major political parties in the country, PDP and the All Progressives Congress, to zone their presidential tickets to the south. They insist it is the turn of the South to produce Nigeria’s next president.
