…apologises for Franca, Ebelechukwu Obiano fracas
Professor Charles Soludo, who was sworn in on Thursday as Anambra State governor, has made key appointments hours after taking office.
Soludo announced the appointment of Prof Solo Chukwulobelu as the Secretary to the State Government, thereby retaining the man who also served in the same capacity under former governor Willie Obiano.
He also announced the appointment of Dr Chukwudi Okoli as the Accountant-General, while Mr Chinedu Nwoye will serve as the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor/State Chief of Protocol.
His swearing-in at the Government House, Awka, on Thursday, witnessed a fight between Ebelechukwu Obiano, wife of former Governor Obiano, and Bianca, wife of Chief Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, leader of the Republic of Biafra and founder of the All Progressives Grand Alliance Party, the party in power in Anambra.
The low-key ceremony had only a few guests that included a former governor of the state, Peter Obi, Prof Pat Utomi, and a former Chairman APGA, Mr. Victor Umeh.
Soludo later apologized for the fracas between the two ladies. The governor in a letter issued by Joe Anatune, his media assistant, noted that the breach of protocol was caused by improper communication, which he said was rooted in a personal issue between the two women.
The letter said:
“Governor Chukwuma Soludo hereby apologises to all Anambra people, friends, and guests, who attended his inauguration this morning as the Anambra State governor, for the breach of protocol.
“The breach was caused by improper communication, which itself arose from a personal issue between the two parties involved in the breach.
“Steps are being taken to resolve the misunderstanding and restore the parties to their previous relationship.”
