The Lagos State Government on Wednesday announced the shutdown of Bab Fafunwa Millennium School until January 2022, as crisis erupts over the death of students of the school in an accident involving truck.
The accident occurred on Tuesday the truck was said to have crushed an unspecified number of students to death as they tried to cross the road after school closed.
While the Police said two students died in the accident, the students said as ma as 17 were crushed by the truck that was said to have failed break and so could stop when the students signaled to the drive to allow them to cross the road.
The closure of the school, formerly Ojodu Grammar School, comes five days after the state government shut down Dowen College in the Lekki area of the state, over the death of a student, Sylvester Oromoni, a 12-year-old student of Dowen.
The government said the move was to sympathise with families of the victims and to address all the issues raised by the parents and other stakeholders.
The Commissioner for Education, Folashade Adefisayo, announced the closure and visited the school as well as the injured students.
