Spread the love

The controversy that emerged following the alleged break-up between popular Nollywood actress, Yvonne Nelson and music sensation and ex-MTN Project Fame winner, Iyanya, may have been laid to rest following Yvonne’s confession that she actually dated Iyanya even though the latter had denied this since last year.

Ghanaian-born Yvonne had taken to Twitter to state how heart-broken she was and how another Nollywood actress, Tonto Dike snatched her man. This resulted in a verbal attack between the two actresses, while Iyanya denied dating any of them.

Yvonne, who has now disclosed that she had moved on from the heartbreak, said she could not believe that she was in a relationship with the musician based on falsehood and lies.

According to Yvonne who said they dated for between seven and eight months, the musician has a lot of secret practices and habits she later came to know about. She said Iyanya only relied on the cover-up to secure his image.

“I think it’s time my fans got to know the whole truth so I’m going to let it all out,” she said. “I dated one person here; he’s in the industry.  There were too many lies in the relationship. I found out a whole lot of things and I just felt like he took advantage of me.”

She said that as a human being, the first choice was to take to Twitter to make “the whole world to know what I was going through and I just wanted them to know that I was done with the relationship.”

She said Iyanya would always continue to deny that he dated her because he was at fault.

“His team is also trying to protect his fan base and I don’t blame him for denying anything. It’s him and his career,” she said.

“We dated for seven to eight months. We had something and I thought it was special, like he was a wonderful guy but it was all lies. He had other girls and other things he was doing. Aside the actress that was in the picture, there were a lot more. That is how bad it is.

“We were in a relationship and he lied throughout and he was able to do all those things because I wasn’t living in Nigeria. But aside from the distance, I feel if you’re a genuine person and you’re loyal, you would still not do that.”

She maintained that apart from Tonto Dike, Iyanya had a long list of women he was dating, including an ex-Big Brother Africa housemate from South Africa.

The relationship was hidden till Yvonne hit Twitter and she said it was because they did not want their fans to be distracted and because she does not believe in putting her relationships in the faces of people.

“We both had our careers and were trying to protect our fan base and that’s cool. But if you go through my Instagram page, you’d see a couple of pictures of us together,” she went on.

“I wasn’t shy about anything but he could not say he’s dating Yvonne Nelson because he had different people he was seeing so it was very hard for him to bring it out.”

She said she had learnt a lot of lessons from the relationship and that this experience would help her in the future.

“There are some things that you don’t get to learn in school; people can’t advise you; you won’t even listen. You just have to experience it to learn.

“I have no regrets that I went through it, it would have happened anyway. We are all human beings. We fall in love once in a while but if it doesn’t work out, that’s OK,” she said adding that she still loves the musician and his music.
