It was a tragic Monday in Enugu State as hoodlums set ablaze a bus carrying various food items including tomatoes, and vegetables.

The action was a punishment to the driver of the bus for allegedly violating the suspended every Monday sit-at-home order given by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra.

The incident occurred at Edem Junction, Ibeagwa, Nike in Enugu East Local Government Area l around 5:45 am, sources said.

While there was no sit-at-home in Enugu State on Monday, the hoodlums were suspected to be enforcing the order, which has been canceled in Enugu State.

IPOB ordered the observance of the Monday sit-at-home in protest against the arrest and detention of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu. The order has led to confusion in the South East. While the governors in the region tell the residents to discountenance the order, those who venture to come out on Mondays end up being attacked in some places.

The attack came three two days after IPOB announced it would enforce the sit-at-home order on October 1, Nigeria’s independence day. It also announced the ban of Nigeria’s flag in the whole of the South East region, beginning from Saturday, September 25.
