The Department of State Services, Nigeria’s spy police, has slammed five-count terrorism charges on two detained aides of Sunday Adeyemo also known as Sunday Igboho, the Yoruba Nation agitator.
The charges were filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja, more than two months since the agency arrested and detained the two aides of the activist and refused to grant them bail despite a court order. It had earlier released 10 others on bail.
Those accused of the offence are Noah Oyetunji, and Amudat Babatunde, the only lady among the 12 aides of Igboho, who were arrested on July 1, when the agency raided Igboho’s residence in Ibadan.
DSS accused Oyetunji, the 1st Defendant of being in possession of fire arms for terrorism-related activities, while it listed Amudat’s offence as helping to promote acts of terrorism, using her Facebook page.
Igboho remains in prison in Benin Republic, where he fled to after the DSS declared him wanted following the raid on his residence. DSS alleged it uncovered a cache of assorted weapons and ammunition in the expansive house, declaring that the weapons had been stockpiled for the purpose of carrying out terrorism-related activities.
