Security operatives on Monday arrested some members of the Indigenous People of Biafra in Abuja.

They were arrested at the Federal High Court, where the resumed trial of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of IPOB, taking place.

The supporters had arrived at the court in solidarity with Kanu, who was arrested and extradited by the Nigeria government to continue his trial.

Initially, the members had wanted to enter into the court premises, but were prevented from doing so by the security agents.

The supporters later went to the roadside from where they were singing and dancing in support of Kanu, who jumped bail in 2017 and fled the country until he was re-re-arrested and brought back to continue his trial.

On Sunday, Kanu’s lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, had advised Kanu’s supporters to stay away from the court premises or wear anything that could identify them with IPOB.

The Nigerian government proscribed IPOB, after declaring it a terrorist organization.
