Gunmen dressed in military uniform on Thursday abducted the village head of Oshiagu Amia Ngbo in Umuogudu Akpu Ngbo Community of Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The attackers also kidnapped four members of the village along with the village head, whose name was given as Deacon John Ulebe Nnaji
The attackers were said to have invaded the village at about 2 p.m., riding on a large number of motorcycles and shooting for close to an hour. and also injured other villagers before leaving with their victims.
The attack came three days after gunmen suspected to be herdsmen went on a killing spree in three communities in Ishielu Local Government Area of the State, leaving as many as 27 people dead, according to some reports.
The corpses of the victims of the Monday attack were said to have bullet wounds, deep machete cuts on the forehead, hands, and other parts of their bodies.
Many of them had their heads and hands chopped off, while their eyes were removed, witnesses said.
