Unidentified gunmen in the early hours of Saturday attacked the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) quarters of Kaduna Airport, abducting nine persons.
Those abducted were six members of a family of six, and a housewife her two children.
The attackers were said to have gained access through the airport’s runway 05 at about 12:10 am and attacked the staff quarters.
A source said that for the intervention of the military, the gunmen would have taken more captive way, as they came in large numbers and were aimed with sophisticated weapons, including AK-47 and two RPG.
Nigeria is currently witnessing its worst peace-time insecurity, with gunmen, now generally referred to as bandits, kidnapping people freely from homes, on the highways, on farms, and in schools.
President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday told newly appointed Service Chief that they have a few weeks to deliver the country from the grip of the bandits, as the farming season approaches.
