Police authorities have arrested a certain Prophet in Anambra state, Onyebuchi Okocha, popularly known as ‘Onyeze Jesus’.
Okocha is the founder of Children of Light Anointing Ministries, based in Nkpor, Idemili North local government area of the state. Reports say he was arrested on Wednesday, January 27, 2021.
He could be arraigned on Thursday, January 28, 202, for various offences on January 28, 2021, according to sources.
The State Ministry of Health, in a statement on Wednesday, January, 27, 2021 warned hospitals and mortuaries operating in the state against allowing ‘Onyeze Jesus’ access to their facilities to carry out his widely publicised claim and planned ‘magic’ that he would raise seven corpses on January 28, 2021.
The statement is titled ‘Notice on Emergence of a Certain Onyeze Jesus based in Nkpor Involved in Deceit and Defrauding or Our People.’
The ministry said that the said prophet had promised to raise seven dead bodies back to life from the mortuary of a notable hospital based in Onitsha on January 28, 2021.
Recent videos that have gone viral showing the self-acclaimed prophet have caused some apprehension among residents of the state. In one of such videos, Okocha is seen showing off naked people, both male and female, bathing openly in a river, while proclaiming his powers to make those people rich.
The video also shows him splashing currency notes on the bodies of the naked men and women bathing inside the water.
Besides allegations of abuse of the currency, he is also accused of animal cruelty and his get–rich–quick promises to gullible members of the public.
