Nigeria said that international flights from the country could re-start before or in early October, according to the Minister of Aviation announced.
Hadi Siriki wrote in response to a report earlier that international flights wouldn’t resume before October.
“International flight resumption date not October,,” Sirika said in a Tweet.
Nigeria had planned to re-start international flight on August 19. Local flights resumed on July 8, after all airports were closed as part of the lockdown following the coronavirus pandemic.
“In liaison with Health, Foreign Affairs & PTF COVID-19, we will announce the agreed date, regardless of the ban by Europe, UAE etc. May be earlier than October,” He said the Nigeria Airspace Management Authority had just issued 90-day Notice to Airmen.
“My colleagues & I have reviewed passenger facilitation at our airports, consequently I am happy to announce that, henceforth travelers are to arrive one hour and a half before their departure time for domestic flights. Travelers are advised to check-in online, please,” Sirika added.
Nigeria’s coronavirus cases rose to 37,225 on Monday, as 562 new infections were added, according to figures released by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control. The number of deaths rose to 801.
