Senior officials of the Niger Delta Development Commission, led by the acting managing director, on Thursday walked out on members of House of Representatives Committee probing alleged mismanagement of funds by the commission.
The running battle between the commission and the National Assembly continued Thursday with the House Committee on NDDC probed the commission for funds mismanagement.
There have been allegations that NDDC spent N81.5bn between January and July 2020.
Trouble started at the event when Prof Kemebrandikumo Pondei, NDDC acting managing director, leader of the commission’s team, asked Mr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the House Committee Chair, to step down, saying that he had been accused of various “crimes” against the commission.
The committee did not take him seriously, which forced NDDC officials to stand up and walk out of the venue.
