Barely 24hours after an Abuja High Court ruling recognizing the election of Hon.Felix Obuah a.k.a GOROUD as Chairman of River State Chapter of the PDP, the Alhaji Bamanga Tukur led National Working Committee, Tuesday, swore in the faction as the legitimate state executive.
Hon.Felix Amaechi Obuah and Walter Ibibia Opuene were sworn in as chairman and secretary respectively,by the National Legal Adviser of PDP,Barrister Victor Kwom.
The move according to political observers is victory for President Goodluck Jonathan, who having a cold war with Gov. Rotimi Amaechi, ahead of 2015 presidential polls.
However, the Rivers State Chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, has described the bringing on board Hon Felix Obuah’s group as a welcome development and a plus to the Nigerian judiciary.
The ACN, while commending the Judge for not yielding to pressure to compromise justice, believes that a historic record has been set in the political life of not only Rivers State but also of the entire country.
“We are elated over the setting aside of the PDP leadership in Rivers State which was wrongly inaugurated by the Amaechi government. This has no doubt vindicated us as we have earlier complained about the prevalence of injustice in the state by the present administration”, ACN noted.
The statement issued by the party’s publicity secretary, Jerry Needam said “it is our conviction that if things were done right, during the primaries of the party this embarrassment would have been avoided. A party that can cheat its members during the primaries will definitely stop at nothing to deprive and, or oppress its opponents in an inter party contest like the general elections”.
We wish that the PDP will learn from this embarrassing development and strive to always act on the part of justice and fair play both within and outside of its structures, the ACN spokesman, Jerry Needam remarked.
Nevertheless,the sacked leadership is not going away quietly, “Hon. Felix Obuah led exco is a group of impostors who openly boast of having the support of ‘Oga and Madam at the top.This injustice will surely not stand the test of time as the triumph of evil is usually only temporary.This travesty of justice and broad day light robbery leaves much to be imagined and casts doubts in our minds over the much talked about reforms in the judiciary.” They noted.
