Lagos State University (LASU) on Monday revealed why it dismissed15 lecturers of the institution about two weeks ago for misconduct.
The school authority said it followed due process in dismissing the chairman of ASUU in the institution, Dr. Isaac Akinloye Oyewunmi, his deputy, Dr. Adebowale Adeyemi-Suenu and 13 others.
The ASUU Chairman was dismissed for collecting N50, 000 from 2003 modular year students of Political Science Education.
His deputy was fired for altering the results of 12 students already advised to withdraw by Senate in the Department of History and International Studies in the 2015/2016 Academic session.
The Vice Chancellor of LASU, Prof. Lanre Adigun Fagbohun made the revelations during a briefing at the university Senate building on Monday.
He recalled how he received the petition on Oyewunmi in October last year, wrote the ASSU chairman to respond to the allegation, but declined the request.
The VC said he wrote to three other individuals mentioned in the petition and the trio admitted that Oyewunmi indeed demanded for money to processes the students’ result.
According to Fagbohun, this led to the setting up of a fact- finding panel which later established that Oyewunmi had a case to answer.
Then another committee found Dr.. Adeyemi -Suenu guilty of manipulating students’ result, he said.
