A total of 18 men were killed in a crash that occurred at the Fire Academy, Sheda, few kilometres to Abuja, early this morning.The accident, which happened at about 1:35am resulted in the instant death of 17 travellers while the other one died at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada where he was rushed to.
Several other passengers were seriously injured in the crash, which involved two vehicles, a Marcopolo luxury bus registered as XG 413 FGG and belonging to GUO Group of Company, and a J5 bus with Registration Number XA 726 NSR.
The victims were all rushed to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital where they are currently being attended to at the time of this report.
Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) who joined in the rescue efforts said a total of 96 passengers were involved in the accident. According to the FRSC, the passenger figure included 70 men and 16 women. Huhuonline.com can report that 14 of the corpses are presently in the morgue of the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital while the other four were deposited at the Kwali General Hospital.
