President Muhammadu Buhari, who resumed duties on Monday after a 105-day medical vacation in London, will operate from his official residence until the completion of the renovation of his office, the Presidency said Monday.
Huhuonline.com gathered that the renovation which will take about 90 days is in compliance with doctor’s prescription that President Buhari must avoid stress. When completed, a section of the office will be transformed into a mini clinic, with wheel chair access, lift, bed etc.
The mini clinic will be staffed by a few personnel who must have complete loyalty to the cabal that manages the President.
The findings also revealed that the reason the cabal chose this option, instead of Aso Rock clinic is to maintain the secrecy that has shrouded the President health and diagnosis.
Till date, Nigerians, including cabinet ministers do not know his diagnosis or course of treatment. This was why Lai Mohammed asserted that “President Buhari was not sick,” during his first medical vacation.
President Buhari`s return is not an indication that he is out the woods yet, a medical source informed Huhuonline.com.
The President has a chronic condition — a disease that is persistent or otherwise long-lasting in its effects. He has to be properly managed else he will suffer a relapse, the source explained.
Huhuonline.com understands that rats present health risks other than direct transmission of diseases. Rat urine and fecal pellets can contaminate food and water supplies rendering them unfit for consumption.
Also, rats have mites and fleas that can readily be passed to domesticated pets, and in some cases, onto people. The rodents are perceived, in most of the world, as dirty animals that spread diseases to humans and domesticated animals.
However, you don’t renovate an office because of rat infestation, what you do is exterminate,” explained a source, in response to a statement issued by Shehu Garba, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity.
According to Mr. Shehu Garba, the president’s office must now be renovated because of the devastation caused by the rodents during the president’s long period of absence.
Shehu said: “Following the three months period of disuse, rodents have caused a lot of damage to the furniture and the air conditioning units.”
He explained that it was impossible for Buhari to operate from the office in that condition.
However, Garba said this would not affect the effectiveness of Buhari’s work since the residence has an annex to the office, adding that the president has been carrying out his duties from home since he resumed.
The president’s spokesman added that he could not tell when the renovation would be completed, even though the maintenance company handling the renovation has been asked to speed up its pace of work.
The president had Monday morning met with Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo and other senior aides, including the Chief of Staff, Mr. Abba Kyari, at his official residence, where he signed a letter informing the National Assembly that he had resumed duties.
The president’s decision to work from home got a nod from the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie Oyegun, who said it was in order, explaining that what was important was that the president would do his job.
“What is important is that the job gets done. Whether he does it from his bedroom, or his sitting room, or his ante room, it does not matter. Let the job be done. And the job will be done,” he said.
