The National Vice Chairman (South-east) of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Dr. Chudi Nwike, has been kidnapped in Anambra State according to information from his party.
The kidnappers are said to be demanding for N30 million as ransom for the abducted politician.
The South-eastern part of Nigeria has become the bedrock of kidnap for ransom and in some cases, the victims are even killed after such ransom has been paid by families.
Confirming the incident on Wednesday, the ACN National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, quoted Dr. Nwike’s younger brother, who has been contacted by the victim, as saying the kidnappers are demanding N30 million to be paid in foreign currency as ransom.
“We appeal to the security agencies to do everything within their power to ensure the safe release of Dr. Nwike, while assuring his family of our prayers and support at this very difficult time,” Lai Mohammed said.
