A new Director of Defence Information (DDI) has been appointed for the Defence Headquarters.

He is Brigadier General Chris Olukolade. Brigadier General Chris Olukolade replaces the former DDI, Colonel Mohammed Yerima.

A statement signed by Group Captain A Makun stated that “following recent postings in the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Chris Olukolade has been appointed new Director of Defence Information.”

It added that Brigadier General Olukolade assumed duty on Tuesday after a handover process between the two senior officers at the Defence Headquarters, Abuja.

Having served previously as Director of Army Public Relations and one-time Spokesman of the ECOMOG Force in Liberia and Sierra-Leone, the new Defence spokesman is expected to utilise his experience in the management of defence information, as he coordinates with other services to ensure a good flow of information to the public.

An alumnus of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Brigadier General Olukolade was trained at the Defence Information School in the United States of America.

He holds a Bachelors’ Degree from the University of Ife and Masters from the University of Lagos. Brigadier General Olukolade also holds a Post Graduate Diploma from the International Institute of Journalism.

Until his new appointment, Brig Gen Olukolade was a Staff Officer at the Defence Headquarters, Abuja.
