In recognition of the contributions made by staff, units and departments to the exemplary performances recorded by United Bank for Africa Plc in the past financial year, the Bank at the weekend honoured staff and units that had contributed directly to the bottom-line during the year.
The annual UBA CEO Awards, for 2012, was held at the prestigious Expo Hall of Eko Hotel in Lagos. The Awards ceremony was with a lot of fanfare and excitement as star performers were honoured in an atmosphere of conviviality, comedy and music.
Conceived and first organized in 2008, the annual event brings together staff and friends of the bank from all over Africa and the rest of the world. The theme of this year’s awards ‘Unite Africa andbe Dazzled,’ focused on recognition of deposit and profitability champions in the group.
This year, 29 staff members and teams were recognised for their exemplary performances. The awards include; Business Office with the highest incremental Low Cost Deposit; Strategic Business Group (SBG) with the highest incremental Low Cost Deposit in Corporate/Energy
Bank/International Banking Group; The African country with the highest incremental Low Cost Deposit growth; Regional Bank with the highest incremental Low Cost Deposit bank wide; Individual with the highest incremental Low Cost Deposit; Non-sales staff that mobilized the highest deposit; Non-sales staff that recorded the highest deposit mobilization for the month in Africa and Most profitable Business Office.
Others are; Most profitable Regional Bank – bank wide; Most profitable African country; the most profitable UBA Subsidiary (Pre-Spin-Off);
The SBG/Regional bank/Subsidiary/African Country that mobilized themost profitable new Deal of The Year among other awards.
“As with previous years since the debut of the CEO Awards ceremony, we have gathered once again to celebrate excellence among our staff,” said Group Managing Director/CEO United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, Mr.
Phillips Oduoza at the occasion. “Our people are our greatest assets and as an institution we have put in place several schemes and initiatives to recognise and reward performance and excellence. This
is one of such,” he added.
Speaking on behalf of the awardees, Regional Bank Head, Cross River/Akwa Ibom Bank, Emem Etuk, thanked Management for the recognition noting that nothing can be more gratifying. She assured the management of the staff commitment to push the boundaries of accomplishment and superlative returns to make UBA the preferred choice for all key stakeholders in 2013.
“The least that is expected of us is to double our efforts because the reward for accomplishment is more accomplishment. Nothing more than attests to UBA’s leadership than its unceasing commitment to its key resource, we the people, the heart and soul of this Pan-African institution,” she said.
