A total of 27 persons have been arrested in Kogi State for alleged kidnapping and armed robbery, the State Police Commissioner, Mr Yakubu Usman, said on Friday while parading some of the suspects in Lokoja, the State capital.

One of the suspect, the gang leader, was said to have led the team which kidnapped a Chinese lady, Lilly Yunpin, and collected N3 million as ransom. 

However, the suspect was unfortunate with another attempt to abduct another victim as he was  arrested while carrying out the act. The other six members of the gang are still on the run.

Another suspect, who led others to kidnap a victim who was eventually killed, was arrested in one hotel at Idah on 2nd March, according to the police commissioner who also explained that one of the paraded suspects, a 25-year old and his gang members killed their victim after collecting N2.5 million ransom.

When he was arrested, his gang went to kill Alhaji Mohammed Yusuff, the father of the victim they had abducted.

On 13th March, a three-man gang kidnapped one Mr. Lawrence Madaki at Ayangba after which they collected N3 million as ransom. The suspects have confessed to committing the crime.

Apart from the various arrests, the police have been able to rescue four victims of abduction including a seven-year old boy.

Men of the Nigeria Police in the State also killed four robbery suspects on March 2 along Ayangba-Itobe Road while two vehicles, AK-47 guns, five locally made pistols, live cartridges and others were recovered from the suspects.
