After several hours of trial, the Supreme Court on Wednesday night, affirmed the electoral victories of Governors Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State and Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State.
The two governors emerged victorious as candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2015 governorship election.
In the judgement on the Akwa Ibom election, the Supreme Court set aside the judgement of the Appeal Court which had ordered a re-run in some local governments in the state, promising to give reasons for the judgement on 15th February.
In the case of Ikpeazu, the Supreme Court, headed by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mahmud Mohammed, set aside the judgement of the Appeal Court which had sacked the governor from office.
