Embattled former National Security Adviser, (NSA) Colonel Sambo Dasuki alongside former General Manager at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Aminu Babakusa and a company, ACACIA Holdings on Monday, entered a not guilty plea to the 19 count charges of stealing, criminal breach of trust, misappropriation, conspiracy and diversion of public funds to the tune of over 32 billion Naira leveled against them.
Dasuki and company entered the plea at the Federal High Court Abuja at a court presided over by Justice Huseini Baba Yusuf. After the plea entry, the case was adjourned till Tuesday, December 15, for hearing on the bail applications filed by the former NSA and other accused persons.
Dasuki had earlier been docked on charges bordering on illegal possession of arms, but the case was stalled by a preliminary objection filed by Dasuki’s counsel. Dasuki’s counsel challenged the application by the Federal Government to revoke the bail granted to the former National Security Adviser by the court.
Oladipo Okpeseyi , prosecuting counsel to the Federal Government, at the resumed trial, had told the court that he had two applications seeking to revoke the bail earlier granted to the accused person by the court. Okpeseyi’s second application sought to stop the further execution of the order of the court directing that the passport of the accused person be released to him.
