Despite the several losses the Boko Haram sect has suffered in the hands of anti-insurgency troops, the group has once again unleashed terror in Yola, the capital of Adamawa State.

On Friday, suicide bomber suspected to be a member of the sect attacked the Jummat Mosque in Jambutu, Jimeta, Yola, killing at least18 people and injuring more than 60.

The suicide bomb attack came barely 11 hours after suspected members of the sect attacked a mosque in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, killing and injuring several people.

Eyewitnesses said the blast occurred immediately after the congregational  prayers commenced on Friday.

They claimed the bomber was a teenager disguised as worshipper.

“It would have been worse if he was able to reach the main building,” a survivor said.

Police Public Relations Officer in Adamawa, Othman Abubakar confirmed the death of many people.

Officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) also confirmed that at least 18 people were dead already.

The dead and the wounded victims have been moved to the Federal Medical Centre, Yola.

Spokesman of hospital, Adamu Dodo said the hospital had received several victims in critical conditions appealing for blood donation from members of the public.
