President Goodluck Jonathan could not describe the shocking revelations that accompanied his unscheduled visit to the Police College in GRA, Ikeja, Lagos State on Friday evening.

Jonathan was on his way to Ivory Coast when he decided to pay an unexpected visit to the Police College for a firsthand assessment of the state of infrastructure at the institution saddled with the responsibility of producing men to take charge of the country’s law enforcement.

Hardly could he give a perfect description of his findings but a disgusted Joanthan promised to give a facelift to the training centre.

“President Jonathan was just shaking his head in anger and embarrassment. It could be seen from his posture that the man was seriously angry,” an aide of the president wrote in a confidential message to our correspondent.

“What he met on ground was not what he expected. He actually decided not to make the visit formal so that the management of the place would not play with the seriousness of the visit.”

The very sight that greeted the president at the college was a party at the very centre of the college organised by some private individuals. It was probably a traditional marriage reception.

Jonathan, who according to the source did not want to betray his anger, expressed sadness at this sight and became more infuriated when the head of the college could not explain the reason for turning the training ground into a business venture.

Before the visit, the source confirmed that the president had learnt of the huge revenue made from letting the college out for parties every weekend.

“We learnt that there is no weekend when parties are not held at inside the college. We are also aware that on Saturdays, more parties are held. The management of the college does not have any excuse not to have put the college in order even though giving the place out is not good enough,” he wrote further.

“Such a college should be out of the reach of outsiders, but what did we meet when we got there? Miscreants everywhere! The gate is very open with the security men at the gate looking the other way when outsiders visit.”

The president, who was later taken round the hostels, saw the decrepit state of the place as confirmed by Lagos-based television station, Channels. The toilets were also in a very terrible state.

When Huhuonline.com visited the college this morning, the security around the college was very tight as people were well scrutinised before they were granted admittance.

At the time of this report, there were no parties around the college. A policeman at the gate confided in Huhuonline.com that all events earlier slated for the college today had been cancelled, adding that the management would issue refunds to those who had already paid.

The president’s visit apparently jolted the Police hierarchy, and an Area Commander in Lagos told Huhuonline.com on phone this morning that there is apprehension among the Police chiefs.

“The president’s disposition yesterday showed that heads may roll if care is not taken,” he said. “I just thank God that I’m not part of those that would be affected in any case relating to this particular issue.”
