Markus Ishaya, one of the campaign coordinators for the Kaduna State governor-elect, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has been killed in Kaduna.
According to El-Rufai’s spokesperson, Samuel Aruwan, Ishaya was killed by some gunmen who went to his village, Atuku Kasa, in Jema’a Local Government Area of the state.
Ishaya, El-Rufai’s coordinator in Atuku Ward, was shot many times by the gunmen whose motives are yet to be known.
El-Rufai’s spokesman said the victim’s family informed the governor-elect that unknown gunmen stormed his residence and shot him several times.
Ishaya becomes the 10th member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). to be killed since the election.
Aruwan said: “The men, two in number, were well armed and did not pick any property in his residence except carrying out the ungodly act.
“Men of. The Nigerian Police have also visited the scene of the crime and have commenced investigation.
“While we appreciate their prompt action, our expectation is that the security agencies will fully investigate this killing and prosecute the perpetrators.
“Security agencies must adequately protect all Nigerians irrespective of their status and standing.”
Aruwan quoted El-Rufai as saying: “Our empathy and prayers go to the family of Mr. Markus Ishaya and the entire community over this callous murder and desecration of human life.
“May Almighty God grant his soul eternal rest and give his family and friends the fortitude to bear this painful loss.”
