Senator Gbemisola Saraki, sister to former Governor Bukola Saraki and one of the last support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, on Friday dumped the party to join her brother in the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Gbemisola had been on loggerheads with Bukola Saraki over their political differences.

She had also supported campaigns for the candidates of the PDP in the state before her sudden defection.

Gbemi announced on Friday in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, that she was leaving the PDP with all her supporters. She also urged all her loyalists and supporters to vote for the APC candidates in the State and at the national level including General Muhammadu Buhari.

“All of you know that tomorrow, March 28, is the last Saturday of the month and also the day for the presidential and National Assembly elections,” she told her supporters.

“I urge you to sweep your environment very well with your brooms.”

Huhuonline.com learnt that the decision by Gbemisola to quit the PDP followed her anger over how she was neglected along with her group in the handling of the campaign for President Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election.

Sources within her camp said she decided to wait till close to the election to leave the party.

The PDP is yet to react to her defection.
