Hon. Tijani Umara Kumalia,a former member of the Federal House of Representatives has been implicated as having close ties with the leadership of the Boko Haram Islamist sect after a suspected Boko Haram leader, Hassan Pagi Bukar was arrested in the ex-lawmaker’s house.
The security guard of the unnamed lawmaker, who was in the House between 2003 and 2007, was also arrested.
The member was himself arrested, interrogated and later released but he has since become a regular face at the security agency handling the matter.
The arrest of Bukar, which was made in Gwarimpa, Abuja, is reported to have been producing positive results.
A source told Huhuonline.com that the suspect revealed that his duty with the sect was to dispossess members of the public of their cars, which were then used in executing suicide bomb attacks.
Upon further interrogation, Bukar revealed that all cars used by the sect in their suicide bombing attacks were stolen, and that the ex-lawmaker also bought some of the stolen cars.
