At least 17 people were killed in an auto crash that occurred in Bayelsa State on Saturday.
Among those who lost their lives was the wife of the Secretary to the State Government Professor Edmond Allison-Oguru.
Mrs Allison-Oguru and 16 other women who died in the accident were among the entourage accompanying the First Lady Patience Jonathan to the airport when the accident occured and they were all burnt to death at Ahaoda when the bus they were travelling in caught fire.
Governor Henry Seriake Dickson expressed deep pains,shock and grief over the incident. He commiserate with his SSG over the tragic death of his wife
Dickson further described the incident as tragic, a monumental and painful loss to the State, stressing that, the women that lost their lives in the accident were our mothers and sisters.
He prayed that God should grant the bereaved families the courage and strength to bear the irreparable losses.
The governor suspended for three days all his official activities as a mark of honour and respect for the souls of the departed women.
