The Management of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) said it has unearthed a plot by some elements working with desperate political forces to plant a major but false story with a fake email address bearing NAN name and imprint.
In a press statement released by the news organisation on Thursday, the management explained that the motive behind this is to cause serious public disaffection, chaos and unrest.
“NAN therefore wishes to alert all our subscribers and the general public to this evil plot,” the statement read.
“We wish to point out that only news and information from our official portal www.nannigerianews.com is the Agency’s authentic news service delivery.”
NAN called on various security agencies to take note of the plot, urging them to assist in ensuring that the plot is thwarted before it is hatched.
