Aminu Sule, son of Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State, who snuffed life out of a middle-aged man in a road accident has been released on bail by the Kano State Police Command.

According to witnesses, Sule’s car crushed the victim to death along BUK Road, by Rumfa College, Kano, at about 8.55pm on Wednesday night, leaving the Police in the state with no option but to arrest and detain the governor’s son.

After the victim reportedly died right on the spot, the governor’s son and his SUV sport car were taken into detention at Kwali Police Station, Kano.

The same Aminu Sule is under prosecution by the Economics and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegations of money laundering. He only escaped being mobbed to death by whiskers, owing to the timely intervention of policemen on patrol.

Speaking earlier on the incident, Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Police Command, ASP Magaji Musa Majia, had confirmed that the driver of the accident-causing vehicle was identified as Aminu Sule.

“The Police equally identified the relation of the victim, whose body has been taken to a government hospital for doctor’s confirmation,” he added.

He also revealed that the case had been referred to the Director of Public Prosecution for necessary action.

However, Governor Lamido’s son was released on bail by the Police after — according to sources — parents of victim of the car crash were convinced to renege on an earlier plan to press legal charges against Aminu Sule.

There are also unconfirmed reports of mouthwatering promises from the governor’s family to the victim’s family.
