The body of abducted Hon. Justice Azuka, a member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, has been discovered.

 

The body, which is already decomposing, was found around the 2nd Niger Bridge.

 

The lawmaker, who represented Onitsha North Constituency 1, was abducted on Tuesday, December, 24, 2024, along Ugwunaobankpa Road in Inland Town, Onitsha on his way home.

 

He was abducted not long after he reclaimed his mandate as the Labour Party candidate for the 2023 election from Hon. Douglas Egbuna of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who was initially declared the winner of the 2023 election.

 

On December 27, 2024, the police operatives attached to the Inland Town Division, Anambra State on 27 December 2024 announced the recovery of the lawmaker’s body.

 

The police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, had revealed the discovery of the vehicle adding that the security agency had been carrying out operations to rescue the victim.

 

According to Ikenga, “the recovery (of his vehicle) followed an intense ongoing operation by police operatives attached to the Inland Town Division.

 

“A separate rescue team sighted the abandoned vehicle at Upper Iweka Road, and the Commissioner of Police has charged the deployed rescue team to intensify efforts for the possible rescue of the honourable member.”
