The Labour Party presidential candidate for the 2023 general election, Peter Obi, has been warned of a massive defeat in 2027 if he continues to destabilise the party.

The All Labour Party Professionals and Stakeholders (AALPS) warned that this time, it would be Obi’s worst defeat in elections if he does not trace back his steps.

The political pressure group further urged the Labour Party to distance itself from Obi, sanction or ostracize him should he head to the Supreme Court after the Appeal Court had revalidated the current National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.

Dr. Blessing Elaigwu, the convener of the AALPS, in a statement to journalists, complained that the party had stagnated in the last one year due to lack of leadership from Peter Obi and the unnecessary litigation which the former Governor of Anambra brought upon the party.

Elaigwu said while other political parties were already working ahead of 2027, the Labour Party had continued to grapple with internal leadership crisis.

“…Peter Obi thinks that he wants to destroy the party before moving to another political party as it is being said everywhere now that he is negotiating with another political party, and that the game plan is to systematically destroy the Labour Party completely before moving to another party.

“He must have known that

as he is fighting the party, he is fighting himself and as he is working to destroy the party in this unfair manner, he is also destroying himself,” Elaigwu said.
